Demographics of North York North York is extremely diverse and the amount of visible minorities is growing:
Amenities Most of the area still remains suburban, but due the efforts of a former Mayor of North York Mel Lastman the centre becomes a small version of downtown. The centre is located along Yonge Street between Finch and Sheppard Avenues, coinciding with the path of the TTC’s Yonge-University Spadina subway line. Along this “downtown” world-known corporations such as Procter & Gamble, Nestle, and Xerox have their head offices. Also along the Yonge street one of the biggest Jewish Community centers is situated.
A military base and aircraft manufactures facility is located at Downsview area. However, with the end of Cold War most of the land is being transformed into a park. Two of the major attractions at North York are Black Creek Pioneer Village and Ontario Science Center.
